HOUSTON, Texas (Nov. 6, 2020) The Harris County Veterans Services Department (VSD) wishes all Harris County veterans and residents a happy Veterans Day!

In January 2020, the Harris County Commissioner’s Court established the independent VSD. Since then, the energetic staff has continued services remotely to the Harris County veteran community, and has been structuring the new department under strenuous COVID-19 restrictions. 

Although events have been canceled for 2020, the VSD looks forward to future public events when conditions permit.

The VSD Director, Dave Lewis said, “as veterans serving veterans in the Greater Harris County, our department salutes all those out there who raised their right hand under oath in service to our nation. We thank you for your sacrifice, wherever you are, and look forward to seeing you in person!”

The Harris County Veterans Services Department (HCVSD) is an advocate for veterans and their dependents in Harris County. We welcome returning veteran s of the U.S. Armed forces from all eras as productive members of the greater Harris County by building a strong veteran community. 

We provide assistance to veterans and their dependents regarding compensation, pension, medical, educational, insurance, and death benefits. We also assist veterans and their dependents in obtaining important documentation needed to apply for benefits.
